Details:

One year ago, RPWU ran a 2-hr race; now we're back for another endurance race; this time it's 400 kilometers long (250 miles). hairybones1997 has created an intricate 25 mile track for the event, featuring a good mix of daunting technical sections, roaring fast straightaways, and beautiful scenic views through the heart of downtown and rolling slopes of northern Los Santos County.

Rules:

1. All participants are expected to abide by RPWU rules and standards during racing. Non-RPWU members are exempt from abiding by RPWU dress code.

2. No sandbagging. The goal of all racers should be to win the race.

RPWU leadership reserves the right to punish members who violate these rules as deemed necessary following the conclusion of the event. Non-RPWU members who violate the rules will be permenantly banned from participating in future events. Following the event conclusion non-RPWU members who do not violate the rules will be allowed to join the crew if they wish to do so.

Participation:

To preserve the integrity of this event spots will be offered to invited participants only. Participants who are invited are assumed to be capable of racing clean. Slots will be offered, in order of priority, as follows:

1. RPWU members.

2. Members from any other crew invited to participate in the event who are in good standing within those crews. Currently, participants who identify themselves with the following crews are eligible to receive 2nd priority slots: Domestic Battery (XDBX)

3. Anyone who is not eligible for participation through the above criteria but receives an invite to the event. Invites sent out in this manner must ultimately be approved by RPWU leadership.

Anyone not meeting these three criteria will be turned away when attempting to join the event. If an unsigned participant who meets these criteria wishes to join the event, we will let them join following 7:35 PM EDT if there are slots available. Sign-ups will close on 3/12/2015 11:59 PM EDT.

Event procedure:

BIGGamerer will create a invite-only free mode lobby prior to the start of the race. At 7:30 PM EDT all participants should be in this lobby. If more than 16 signed participants are present the 16 that are invited to the lobby will be determined by priority admission and then sign-up order, and after 7:35 PM, should there still be empty slots, we will allow any signed participant to fill them on a first-come, first-serve basis. At 8pm or after all participants show up, whichever happens first, BIGGamerer will start the race and invite everyone to it, then the race will begin. I can not stress this enough: ALL participants should be in the lobby at 7:30. The latest we are willing to start the race is 8pm sharp, and it is best that you give yourself plenty of time to meet this deadline by showing to the lobby at 7:30. We recommend turning on your PS3 and slapping your copy of GTAV into it at 7:00 to ensure that you arrive on time. Alternatively, hairybones1997 will host the race if BIGGamerer is not available. The race may be restarted within the first 10 minutes from its start for any justifiable reason as declared by RPWU leadership. We do not anticipate this will happen, however.

If the race is restarted, all participants are to abandon the current race. BIGGamerer (or hairybones1997 if BIGGamerer is not available) will start the race again and invite everyone again to the race before starting it. If a restart occurs, the race distance may be shortened to ensure that the event finishes before 11:00 PM EDT.

The event may be abandoned for any of the following reasons:

• 3 or less people remain in the race.
  
• Lag, hacks or server issues.

If RPWU abandons the event, RPWU will either reschedule it for a later date, or consider it final and post final results based on appropriate measures. RPWU will consider the event to be final if it is abandoned for the first time only if there is a clear winner and more than 75% of the race distance has been completed by this winner. (RPWU leadership may choose to waive these requirements to declare the event final as deemed necessary.) 3/21/2015 has been posted as a back-up date if the event is rescheduled. If the event is rescheduled, RPWU will contact all participants to ensure that they are able to make the event at the designated time, but will initially assume that all participants will be able to attend the event at the rescheduled date. RPWU may reschedule the event up to one time. If the event is abandoned a second time, results of the race will be posted based on appropriate judgement.

Additional Details:

Because of the long length of the event, it is anticipated that there will be disconnections or game freezes. My scientifically specific guesstimation says if 16 people start the race, 4-5 will suffer disconnections or game freezes. We also encourage anyone with the equipment to do so to record footage of the event.

EDIT: There were server problems introduced by the recent Heists update but we now believe these problems have been resolved and we will continue on with running the race on 3/14/2015.

EDIT 2: In light of possible server issues on the day of the event we've posted 3/21/2015 7:30 PM EDT as a backup date for the event if things go wrong. We are still planning to run the race on 3/14/2015 7:30 PM EDT. Participants intending to attend the event should give plenty of time (30-60 minutes before the start of the event) to allow for downloading the heist update and dealing with possible server issues on the day of the event.

Sign-ups are closed for the event. However, since there is an empty spot remaining we'll let someone claim it if they want it.
